Following the passing of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, Johnson Junior college was desegregated and became a part of Lake-Sumter State College, then known as Lake-Sumter Junior College. Following the passing of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, Johnson Junior college was desegregated and became a part of Lake-Sumter State College, then known as Lake-Sumter Junior College. The Administration (also known as Williams-Johnson) building on LSSC’s campus is named after both the college and Johnson Junior College’s first and only president, Mr. Perman E. Williams (1918-2010).
